SCOTUS: eFiling Begins Nov 13

The Supreme Court of the United States will begin electronic filing next month!  The announcement from the clerk of court states:

“On November 13, 2017, the U.S. Supreme Court’s electronic filing system will begin operation. While paper will remain the official form of filing as under existing practice, parties represented by counsel will also be required to submit most documents through the new electronic filing system. Attorneys who expect to file documents electronically will need to register in advance for the system. Additional information is available at https://www.supremecourt.gov/filingandrules/electronicfiling.aspx.”

Governor Appoints Three to Oregon Court of Appeals: Aoyagi, James, and Powers

Governor Kate Brown has announced her appointments to the three vacancies on the Oregon Court of Appeals:  Robyn Ridler Aoyagi, the Hon. Bronson James, and Steven R. Powers.

  • Robyn E. Ridler Aoyagi is a trial and appellate litigator at the Tonkon Torp law firm.
  • The Hon. Bronson James is a judge on the Multnomah County Circuit Court.
  • Steven R. Powers is an insurance coverage and appellate lawyer at the law firm Parsons Farnell & Grein, LLP.

The Governor’s appointments fill vacancies created when the Hon. Timothy J. Sercombe retired and the Hon. Meagan A. Flynn and the Hon. Rebecca A. Duncan were appointed to the Oregon Supreme Court.
