Mission Statement

The Oregon State Bar’s Appellate Practice Section serves state and federal appellate practitioners with Continuing Legal Education opportunities, provides social interaction opportunities, monitors changes to the Oregon Rules of Appellate Procedure and legislative developments, and offers a forum for suggestions to improve the practice of appellate law throughout Oregon and the United States.
 
The section typically sponsors two Continuing Legal Education seminars each year and publishes the annual Appellate Almanac.  The section also assists in developing programs and services related to to state’s appellate courts, such as the Oregon Pro Bono Appellate Program
 
The section has 340 members as of March 1, 2023.  Membership dues are currently $20 per year and used to support the section’s events and seminars.  The executive committee encourages judges, lawyers, paralegals, law students, and citizens to apply for membership, as the section benefits from a diverse membership.
